Don’t let yourself burn out!

So, it’s been a while since i last wrote a blog….

If i’m honest, January and the beginning of February have been a struggle.

  • I ended things with a guy
  • Moved house (not only is moving stressful, i was moving from a house with a roommate to a flat with an entirely new roommate). New scenery, adjusting to a different way of living…. all whilst working approx 13 hour days on 3/4 hours sleep!

This is too much for anyone! And i got to the point of burnout.

I was exhausted alll the time, words wouldn’t come out right, my memory was shocking, i was procrastinating, eczema everywhere, achne on my face…. I felt helpless and overwhelmed, full of self-doubt.

This is not a nice place to be.

I spoke with the doctors, got signed off of work, but this made it worse. I was almost running away from the problem. I was still only sleeping 5 hours, waking up throughout the night, procrastinating, worrying about money. Although i was still unboxing everything from the move and building furniture, my headspace was not in a good place.

When you get to this point, it’s so hard to overcome it and get out of this way of thinking.

YOU can get yourself out of this. Everyone you have around you is there to support you 🤍

And i soon realised this, got myself back into work (this sorted out my money stress), focused on tracking my sleep quality and not going on my phone when going to bed (this stopped the half hour extra chilling on my phone which i could be sleeping), and just started seeing the positives in everything.

Granted, i’m still working a ridiculous amount and not sleeping an awful lot however, it’s only the beginning and things will get easier/better.

So i just thought i would share some tips on avoiding burnout and giving your body the REST IT NEEDS.

Key points to remember as to why you need to rest your mind and body 🤍

  1. Exercise
    • Not only is exercise good for our physical health, but it can also give us an emotional boost. (IMPORTANT NOT TO OVERTRAIN)
  2. Eat a balanced diet
    • Eating a healthy diet filled with omega-3 fatty acids can be a natural antidepressant. Adding foods rich in omega-3s like flaxseed oil, walnuts, and fish may help give your mood a boost.
  3. Practice good sleep habits
    • Our bodies need time to rest and reset, which is why healthy sleep habits are essential for our well-being.
  4. Ask for help
    • During stressful times, it’s important to reach out for help. If asking for assistance feels difficult, consider developing a self-care “check-in” with close friends and family members so that you can take care of each other during trying times.
