5 reasons why you shouldn’t continuously count your calories

1 – LESS STRESS. Counting calories can be very stressful and can lead to many mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia & eating disorders. By counting your calories this can increase your chances of these mental health conditions and/or make them worse. So ditch the counting!

2 – Food is so much more than just calories. Food is fuel and we should be able to enjoy what we eat!

3 – It is time consuming and can create bad habits, an unhealthy relationship with food, under eating and so on.

4 – It will allow you to learn to listen to your body and understand your hunger and the nutritional value in foods.

5 – Calories aren’t made equal. What i mean by that is, for example, 2 squares of Cadbury’s chocolate (roughly 22g) is approx 64 calories whereas 200g of strawberries is approx 65 calories and has so much more beneficial factors.

Restricting yourself from food can also increase your appetite which will lead you to craving processed fatty and sugary foods.

So, the bottom line is, you’re better off without counting your calories!
