Food Diary

Gluten & Dairy free diet

This is my 2 day food diary in London. I don’t usually go out for food much as i have previously explained (anxiety towards finding food to eat) so there is a mixture of meals out, quick snacks and cooked meals.

I do plan to do another food diary when im at home to go through more of foods i cook regularly and what foods i don’t react to.

Day 1

So usually eating out can be so stressful which makes me feel awkward and difficult when having intolerances/allergies, and that’s completely UNFAIR. But i didn’t really come across too many issues.

Snacks are usually pretty difficult to come across, it usually ends up in being plain crisps or fruit, which i don’t really mind but still annoying.

I cooked most my meals this day however, i did dine out at the Flat Iron restaurant in Covent Garden.

The menu at the restaurant (https://flatironsteak.co.uk/menu/) had no allergen information however the waitress was extremely helpful! I find that restaurants that offer steak are usually always safe to eat at as they can alter the way they cook, for example on this occasion, they cooked the steak in butter but changed it to oil for me. The chips were cooked in Homemade Beef Dripping which was dairy and gluten free! So it turned out to be the easiest dinner out which is a nice change!

I did end up going out after dinner and sadly, alcohol doesn’t agree well with my stomach hahaha but it was my birthday so we go with it.

Day 2

I spent the morning hungover ngl so i made my own breakfast which was sausages (most are gf now thankfully) and Genius bread toasted with dairy free butter.

I then felt peckish so i got a few snacks from Tesco express, again plain crisps is always a snack i go to when on the go along with some sort of protein.

Dinner was deliveroo as it was a busy day! They’ve now made it slightly easier to order food, more so in London than Bristol as there is more to choose from.

So i can amend the dietary requirements to be gluten free and vegan however i don’t tend to put down vegan as i still eat meat so i just put gluten free. Luckily the Pizza place was really easy to order from, dairy and gluten free. The pizza was pretty good too, although the base was a little dry.

FYI – My absolute favourite pizza is https://stablepizza.com/bristol/ and the worst is Pizza express HAHA. I’ll attach a photo to show you how sad my pizza looks from Pizza express.

If there is anything else you would want to see, for example home made cooked meals, dining out for the day, my go to snacks then please feel free to comment 🙂
